This Discord banner resizer crops any picture or GIF to a 600 × 240 profile banner or a 960 × 540 server banner. Drag the picture into place, check it on a mock Discord profile with the avatar in the corner, and download a file Discord accepts without asking you to crop again. Animated GIFs stay animated.
How to use the Discord banner resizer and cropper
- Pick a size: Profile banner (600 × 240) or Server banner (960 × 540).
- Add your picture: drop it in, choose it, or paste a copied image with Ctrl+V.
- Drag to frame it: move and zoom until the important part sits in view. The profile preview shows where your avatar covers the lower-left corner, so you can keep faces and text clear of it.
- Download: PNG for still pictures, GIF for animated ones.
Then upload it in Discord. For your profile, open User Settings → Profiles and choose Change Banner. For a server, open Server Settings → Server Profile and upload it under Banner.
Discord banner sizes
| Banner | Size | Shape | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profile banner | 600 × 240 px | 5:2 | Nitro members |
| Animated profile banner | 600 × 240 px GIF | 5:2 | Nitro members |
| Server banner | 960 × 540 px | 16:9 | Servers at Boost Level 2 |
| Animated server banner | 960 × 540 px GIF | 16:9 | Servers at Boost Level 3 |
Both banner types can be up to 10 MB.
Why crop your banner before uploading
Discord asks you to crop any picture that isn't the right shape, inside a small dialog with limited zoom. A wide wallpaper usually loses the part you wanted, and GIFs are hard to frame there at all. A Discord banner cropper with a bigger editor and a finished-profile preview gets it right the first time, and the file is already the exact size, so Discord's crop box matches it.
Animated GIF banners
Drop in a GIF and it stays a GIF. Every frame gets the same crop and zoom, the timing is kept, and the preview plays the animation so you can check the loop. If you'd rather use a single frame, turn off Keep it moving and you'll get a PNG instead.
- Loops of two to four seconds keep the file small and look deliberate.
- Fast flashing is tiring in a profile people open often.
- You need Nitro to set any profile banner, still or animated.
Banner design tips
- Mind the avatar. On profiles, your picture covers the lower-left corner of the banner. Keep text and faces in the middle or on the right.
- Go for contrast. Discord's dark theme sits right against the banner. A very dark picture blends into it; some color or light reads better.
- Skip small text. The profile card shows the banner only about 300 pixels wide, so fine print turns into a smudge.
- Leave room for the server name. Discord writes the server name across the top of a server banner, so keep that strip calm.
Your picture stays on your device
Loading, cropping, and GIF encoding all happen in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so a private screenshot is as safe here as a public wallpaper.
