Use Instagram text formatting to add emphasis and structure to a caption, bio, comment, or message. The editor converts supported letters to styled Unicode characters. It also prepares empty lines for copying when you want more space between caption sections.

How to format Instagram text

  1. Enter or paste your caption in the editor.
  2. Select the words that need emphasis. Leave the text unselected to format the full caption.
  3. Choose an emphasis control or a character style.
  4. Review the paste-ready output and select Copy text.
  5. Paste the result into Instagram and check it before you publish.

The formatting is part of the copied text. You do not need to install a font, upload an image, or add markup.

Instagram caption formatting options

Bold text

Use bold for a short heading, offer, date, or call to action. Long blocks of bold text are harder to scan.

Plain: New collection

Bold: 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Italic text

Use italic for a brief note, quote, or secondary detail.

Plain: Save this post

Italic: 𝘚𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘵

Bold italic text

Bold italic gives a selected phrase more contrast. It is useful for a short launch line or announcement.

Underline and strikethrough

Underline can identify a short label. Strikethrough can show an old price, a changed plan, or a correction. These effects use combining Unicode marks, so their position can change with the font or device.

Plain text

Use Plain to remove a supported style from the selected text. This is useful when you change a bold or italic phrase back to standard letters.

More Instagram character styles

The character-style controls give a selected phrase a different shape:

  • Script adds a cursive look.
  • Double struck adds an outlined mathematical style.
  • Serif bold adds a heavier editorial style.
  • Monospace gives each supported character a fixed-width look.
  • Gothic uses Fraktur characters.
  • Circled puts supported letters and numbers in circles.
  • Wide uses fullwidth characters.
  • Small caps uses compact capital forms where they are available.

Use these styles for a short name, heading, or label. Keep the main caption in plain text so that it stays easy to read.

Keep blank lines in an Instagram caption

An empty line can disappear when text moves between apps. When Protect blank lines is on, the tool puts a visually blank Unicode spacer on each empty line in the copied output. The spacer appears as space, not as a printed symbol.

This option does not change lines that contain text. Instagram can change how pasted text is handled, so review the final caption in the app before you publish it.

NEW COLLECTION

Available Friday.

#newcollection

A simple format can use bold for NEW COLLECTION, italic for Available Friday., and plain text for the description and hashtag. This keeps the main information easy to read.

Instagram text formatting or Instagram fonts?

Use this formatter when you want to apply emphasis or a character style to a selected part of a caption. Use the Instagram Fonts Generator when you want to compare a larger set of complete text styles.

You can also use the Bold Text Generator for one bold result, the Underline Text Generator for underlined text, or Unicode to NonUnicode to return supported styled characters to plain text.

Readability and compatibility

Styled letters are Unicode characters. They are not native rich-text formatting from Instagram. Their appearance can change between devices, fonts, and app versions. Some letters, symbols, and languages do not have a matching style, so the formatter keeps them unchanged.

Decorative Unicode can also be harder for screen readers, search, and copy tools to interpret. Keep names, hashtags, mentions, links, safety information, and long sentences in plain text. Use styles only where they add clear emphasis.

Privacy

The formatter runs in your browser. Textavia does not upload or store the caption that you enter in this tool.

Frequently Asked Questions
The formatter replaces supported letters with Unicode style characters. Instagram does not apply a font file or rich-text markup. You copy the resulting characters and paste them into a caption, bio, comment, or message.

The option puts a visually blank Unicode spacer on each empty line in the copied output. This helps the line remain present when you paste the caption. Platform behavior can change, so check the preview before you publish.
Not every letter, symbol, or language has a matching Unicode style character. Unsupported characters stay unchanged so that the tool does not remove content.
