Short lines tend to land better. A four-word Discord reply remains readable once someone turns their phone around; a 600-word paragraph becomes a chore before the second sentence (and the joke has probably expired by then).

How to turn text upside down

What happens to each character
The tool first substitutes supported letters, digits, and punctuation with Unicode characters that resemble rotated versions. Then it reverses the character order. Both steps matter because a physically rotated sentence reads from the opposite end.
For example, hello is mapped to ɥǝllo, then reversed into ollǝɥ. Turn the display 180 degrees and the word faces the expected direction.
Some matches are close approximations. Unicode has no complete upside-down alphabet, so M becomes W, a 6 resembles 9, and several symmetrical characters stay visually unchanged. Emoji usually survive, though their place in the sentence moves when the order is reversed.
Where the flipped text works
- Discord messages, channel topics, and short display names.
- Puzzle clues. Print a hint at the bottom of a page and make players rotate it to read the line. Simple, but oddly satisfying.
- Captions or comments on platforms that accept Unicode characters.
- Usernames can work, provided the site accepts the substituted characters and its length limit leaves enough room.
- Riddles.
The result may look slightly different across fonts. Test the final paste in the destination app, especially when the line includes uppercase letters, numbers, or less common punctuation.
Upside down, reversed, or mirrored?
These effects get lumped together even though they solve different jobs.
The reverse text generator changes order only, turning hello into olleh. The mirror text generator uses characters that resemble a horizontal reflection. This tool aims for a 180-degree rotation, which needs vertically flipped lookalikes plus reversed order.

Characters that refuse to flip
Perfect coverage is impossible here. Accented letters, many writing systems, newer symbols, and most emoji do not have convincing rotated partners, so the generator keeps those characters rather than deleting them.
That can create a mixed line. café will flip the supported c, a, and f, while é remains recognizable in its new position. For a cleaner result, replace accented letters with their plain equivalents before copying (a little blunt, perhaps, but effective).
Screen readers may announce the substituted Unicode characters by their actual names rather than by the letters they resemble. Keep important instructions, links, and accessibility-critical information in ordinary text.
Ideas that hold up after pasting
- Put a short answer beneath a riddle instead of hiding it behind another page.
- A one-line status. Two sentences can work, but line wrapping varies from app to app.
- Pair a flipped phrase with the symbols copy and paste tool when you need brackets, arrows, or a plain-text divider.
